Tell us something about your book.

An 8 to 10 year old would be an ideal person to read the book

Share the best critique/review of your book.

The Ship by Ruchita Mathur is an interesting novella for children and young readers. The story is about a crew of the ship called SPEEDY. You would be surprised to know that it is no-human being story, rather all about animals and their conflicts. The ship is sailing from Burma to India, carrying a cargo of teakwood. As their journey commences, a bundle of adventure and action unfolds. There are around 12 chapters and each chapter promises a new adventure and thrill. Kids that love adventure and treasure hunt stories will definitely find this book a treat to read.

What inspired you to write it?

I had got the inspiration from my writers group who said that my animal characters were colourful.

What message would you like readers to take away from your book?

The message that I would like to give readers is that team work is important.

How many times were you rejected?

This is a self-published book so no rejected. I am a confident person so had decided to self-publish.

How long did you write the first draft? And how long did the editing and re-editing take?

I took 6 months to write the first draft. My editor did the editing and reediting.

Can you share your writing rituals/habits/process?

I write using pen and paper. I don’t use any app for writing. Ideas come to me when I write in the morning.

Who was your first literary crush?

Superman in a comic book. I found him handsome in a costume

Did a book ever make you cry? (Which one?)

I have never cried after reading a novel. In guess I am an emotionless person

What was the first book that made you fall in love with reading?

Little woman. I loved that the four sisters were so different.

Do you have a pet?

I don’t have a pet.Our society has many cats. They roam the society as if they live in it.

Do you sing under the shower? Or to your plants?

I don’t sing under the shower. I would rather sing with someone. That would be enjoyable.

Do you like to cook? What is your specialty?

I am a bad cook. Generally I put less spices so that it is not too spicy. So sometimes the salt is also less.

What is the most romantic thing you ever did?

It depends on what is the definition of romantic. To me, romance is when you do something for someone whom you like. I can’t really say what I did as the most romantic thing.

What is the most romantic thing someone did for you?

Again people who like have done things for me.

Do you believe in love?

Love to me is affection towards someone. I have affection for my family.
